Well, you can. With Adobe Photoshop you have everything you need to create amazing digital collages from multiple photos. Photoshop has become the choice of professionals for editing and manipulating digital photography.

It has become the standard in the graphics industry to merge two or more photos into one collage or digital photo. Examples of this are all around. As a photographer, a web designer, or a graphic artist, it will be to your benefit to learn how to do this merging yourself.

Spending time planning your final image is an important step before you actually begin working on the merging of the photos. How do you want your final project to look? It is important to do the planning and laying out of your image before you begin using Photoshop.

The Layers Function in Photoshop is what you will want to use. This allows you to experiment with the many different options.

When planning a photo collage image, you will want to consider several things.

Choosing Photographs is important and something you want to take time to consider. Since the images are going to be merged, you may want to choose images that are complimentary in terms of a general theme. Or perhaps the settings will be similar. Or maybe it is the color scheme of the photographs that will help them to merge. Photoshop has an “eyedropper” which will check colors and look for complimentary colors.

Once you have determined which photographs you would like to use, it is time to think about composition. Unless you are quite experienced, the best thing to do is to browse the Internet and find some examples of digital photo collages that really appeal to you. Study them. What is it about them that attracts you to them? Do they relay the message intended by the artist or advertiser? Look at the composition. Consider what it is that makes the images blend together so well.

Adobe Photoshop allows you to work in multiple layers. This gives you an opportunity to experiment with your composition. Before everything is placed permanently, you will be able to make sure it is exactly what you want.
